Why do we need to know these? To increase vocabulary & make use different words to make writing more exciting and colorful! Today class, we are going to learn about Synonyms!

What is a Synony m? Synonym Same Different words that have the same meaning They can be nouns, verbs or adjectives Example: Beautiful Lovely Gorgeous Stunning

Tune: “Hush Little Baby” Synonyms almost the same, Synonyms almost the same, Come, let's play a matching game. Sing two words that mean the same. When I'm happy, I am glad. When I'm naughty, I am bad. If it's large, it's also big. A hog is also called a pig. See me hurry, See me rush. To be quiet means to hush. If I want, I also wish. A plastic bowl is still a dish.

Activity – 15 Min Graffiti Charts: 1.Walk around the classroom with a marker and write a synonym underneath each word on the chart. 2.Then sign with your initials under your words 3.Have a seat once you’re finished

Activity – 20 min Use the different resources (your brain, the internet, a thesaurus) to fill in your Trash Can Thesaurus. Words to throw away: “like” “happy” “sad”
