Location Our house will be located in Seattle, WashingtonOur house will be located in Seattle, Washington –There is a lot of places there that use Hydroelectric power

Hydroelectric Dam How It Works:How It Works: Near the bottom of the dam wall there is the water intake. Gravity causes it to fall through the penstock inside the dam. At the end of the penstock there is a turbine propeller, which is turned by the moving water. The shaft from the turbine goes up into the generator, which produces the power.Near the bottom of the dam wall there is the water intake. Pumped Storage is a method of keeping water in reserves by pumping water that has all ready flowed through the turbine back up a storage pool above the power plantPumped Storage is a method of keeping water in reserves by pumping water that has all ready flowed through the turbine back up a storage pool above the power plant

Advantages 1.Once a dam is constructed, electricity can be produced at a constant rate. 2.If electricity is not needed, the sluice gates can be shut, stopping electricity generation. The water can be saved for use another time when electricity demand is high. 3. Dams are designed to last many decades and so can contribute to the generation of electricity for many years

Disadvantages 1.Dams are extremely expensive to build and must be built to a very high standard. 2.The high cost of dam construction means that they must operate for many decades to become profitable. 3.When dams are built there can be flooding and flooding of large areas of land means that the natural environment is destroyed.

Photovoltaic Cells How It WorksHow It Works –Photovoltaics is the direct conversion of light into electricity at the atomic level. Some materials exhibit a property known as the photoelectric effect that causes them to absorb photons of light and release electrons. When these free electrons are captured, an electric current results that can be used as electricity.

Advantages.Electricity produced by solar cells is clean and silent. Because they do not use fuel other than sunshine, PV systems do not release any harmful air or water pollution into the environment, deplete natural resources, or endanger animal or human health..Electricity produced by solar cells is clean and silent. 8 Disadvantages. Some toxic chemicals, like cadmium and arsenic, are used in the PV production process. These environmental impacts are minor and can be easily controlled through recycling and proper disposal..Some toxic chemicals, like cadmium and arsenic, are used in the PV production process. 9 Biomass Generator How it worksHow it works –Biogas is a reliable, cheap and sustainable alternative to, or creator of electricity.. The generators relied on cow dung.
