3  Collect used laptops, desktops and tablets  Install interactive educational software and other software to meet the learning needs of homeless children  e.g. word processor, spreadsheet and presentation software  Setup a learning center with at least a couple of machines at each shelter  something similar to business center in the hotel Addressing Learning Needs

5  Provide high level oversight of the initiative  Identify interested social service agencies-locations of learning centers  Arrange laptops with pre-loaded software from JKYog Youth Club  Arrange distribution of laptops and set up learning centers  Setup a demo at the various agencies to show the benefits and how the system can help  Engage youth to volunteer at learning centers to tutor homeless youth Role of JKYog in Laptop Learning Project

6  Publicize this program on their website, flyers etc.  Report to JKYog coordinator liaison in hardware/software about how learning center is working out – if maintenance or replacement equipment needed, etc.  Continual monitoring & supervision of learning center so equipment is properly used for intended purpose  Limit access to appropriate persons  Controlled check in and check out/registration to use the system Expected Role of Agencies

7  Identify the required software  Arrange for collection of used laptops  Ensure all personal data is removed  Install pre-identified software on the laptops  mainly open-source software  Arrange for supply of laptops to needy places Project Launch Tasks

8  Help newly settled immigrant communities, such as Bhutanese, Latino community, etc.  Inner city youth centers and clubs working with at-risk youth  Rehabilitation and transitionary living facilities for youth  Extend this concept in other cities around the country by working with different organizations and JKYog Youth Club Expanding Project Beyond Homeless Youth

10  Each learning center will have an assigned coordinator who will regularly interface with the organization or agency hosting the learning center  Oversight of set up  Coordinate volunteer tutors for learning center  Interface about maintenance needs Learning Center Coordinators

11  Hardware donations – laptops, desktops and accessories preferably no more than 3 years old and in working condition  PCs with Windows 7 or newer  Software donations that is operable with Windows 7 or later (new, legally licensable copies)  Internet Service Donations  Computer desk and office furnishings for learning center  Accessories including, Wi-Fi, mouse, electric power cords, etc.  Antivirus software, internet content control filtering software, access limiting/security software  Printers & printing accessories (paper, ink) Donor & Sponsorship Opportunities: Partial Equipment & Materials List

12  IT services – hardware & software configuration & set up as well as maintenance  Outreach to corporations & individuals for donations  Public speaking to community about project  Tutoring opportunities at each learning center  Involvement in Special Fundraising Events Donor & Sponsorship Opportunities: Partial Service Donation List

13  JKYog is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization doing grass roots charity work in local communities.  Projects include Little Hands Big Hearts – an annual collection drive benefitting homeless children and other initiatives  100% of funds received for the Laptop Learning Center Project will go directly to helping the homeless youth of DFW and would be directly earmarked for the Laptop Learning Center Project.
