POSITIVE AND HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS We desire to develop healthy relationships with our parents, students and staff and we want you to be comfortable in our school. Our school inquiry question is: “How do we interweave emotional intelligence and self-regulated learning while teaching curricular competencies to improve social and emotional well-being and enjoy the journey of learning? When you have a question or concern, please direct it to the person directly involved. If you are not satisfied with the response, seek help from the next most directly involved person. The principal is the overseer of the entire school community. Our Area Superintendent is Rhonda Ovelson.

SEND A LIGHT WEIGHT PACK AND HEALTHY FOOD To avoid chronic back and neck pain, send your child to school with a properly fitting light weight pack. Your child needs proper fuel for their brain to do the job of learning. We expect healthy food and water bottles. You are what you eat.
9
LABEL EVERYTHING YOU WISH TO KEEP Most of you are not used to sharing a space with about 500 others. Sometimes, children leave their clothing in different and interesting locations. When your child’s belongings are labeled, they could possibly be returned. We donate large volumes for beautiful clothing and “stuff” to charities as it is unclaimed and unmarked. We consider unlabeled objects as generous parent donations to the less fortunate.
10
CALL THE SCHOOL WHEN YOUR CHILD IS ABSENT Attach the school magnet to your fridge and remember to call in This makes sure your child is safe Our office staff appreciate your cooperation as it saves them so much time and effort
11
PAY ON LINE FOR FEES AND FIELDTRIPS This is a new way for the school district to efficiently deal with the large volume of money coming into schools You can access this system for the DWE website We ask that you pay ALL fees on line to save time and be more efficient
12
PARENT ADVISORY COUNCIL PAC activities involve fundraising to support the school in creating a better learning environment for our children Hot Lunch Program—optional program for parents to order lunch for their children on Wednesdays, one of the main fundraisers for PAC Please bookmark our website at www.dwepachotlunches.net (link on DWE homepage). More members are always welcome!

INFORMATION SPECIFIC TO FRENCH IMMERSION Learning is on a continuum- not everyone reaches the same milestones at the same time Support your child in English at home - they will transfer their learning to French (It will not confuse them. That is a myth!). If your child struggles in French it does not mean that they need to transfer to English. Please think about this! Our district is on a French Immersion journey. Stay tuned!
