MALK FAMILY VINEYARDS A native of South Africa, Brian Malk continues a family tradition of grape growing started by his grandfather who owned a wine farm in Franschhoek, near Capetown. Brian moved to the United Stated in 1978 and is now residing in Napa and San Diego. Brian and Nancy purchased the Stags Leap property for Malk Family Vineyards in 1997 and began planting in 1998.
4
MALK FAMILY VINEYARDS The inspiration behind the Malk Family Vineyards logo was their beloved Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Griffin, who passed away at the age of 15 ½. Brian and Nancy intend to uphold his honor with every vintage.

OUR WINEMAKER The wines are produced under the watchful eye of winemaker Robbie Meyer. Robbie has been involved in winemaking for many years, working with Peter Michael Winery, Lewis Cellars, and L’Angevin, among others. His goal is to produce wines that reflect the vineyard and district; wines approachable in their youth with ripe fruit, but are supported with full body and rich tannins that are a signature of Stags Leap wines.

OUR WINEMAKER - REVIEWS “Robbie is a very classic, meticulous winemaker, utilizing native yeast and natural winemaking practice such as un-fining and un-filtering.” Brett Barrett, Senior Wine Advisor, Wine Spectrum “He consistently produces amazing quality wines that truly represent the vineyards and terroir from which they come.” Karl Wente, Senior Vice President of Winemaking at Wente

The 2012 Malk Family Vineyards Stag’s Leap Cabernet is a perfect example of what the appellation has to offer. The dark, yet vibrant color of the wine gives the first glimpse of its depth and elegance. The nose offers classic ripe black currant aromas, but is highlighted with beautiful floral qualities, light clove and spice, and even notes of milk chocolate and vanilla. The 2012 reveals interesting mineral notes of crushed gravel and even notes of the loamy and volcanic soils in which the grapes were grown. While the weighty palate is incredibly supple, there is plenty of concentration in this wine to carry it for many years of enjoyment. -Production: 450 Cases -Stags Leap District -100% Cabernet Sauvignon -Harvested October 2012 -Hand Sorted -25 day maceration -20 months in French oak;75% new -Bottled May 2014 -$640/case Robert Parker: 91 Points Wine Enthusiast: 90 Points James Suckling: 90 Points

PINOT NOIR – FORT ROSS/SEAVIEW We have sourced our fruit from an amazing vineyard (Del Dotto) on the “true” Sonoma Coast high in the hills overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Adjoining and nearby vineyards include Peter Michael, Marcassin, Flowers, Hirsch, Del Dotto, and Pahlmeyer.

The 2013 vintage gave us both excellent yields and superior quality. This Pinot is packed with classic ripe wild strawberry and blackberry, but has the warm underlying tones of forest floor, fresh mushrooms, and even a delicate marine quality indicative of its growing area. On the palate, this wine is smooth and sensual, but not to be confused with delicate. It has excellent body and structure that make it an excellent food wine and certainly cellar worthy. -SOLD OUT -Production: 144 Cases -Kings Ridge Vineyard, Sonoma Coast -Harvested October 2013 -Tank Fermented -Malolactic Fermentation -40% new French Oak -Barrel aged 15 Months -$464/case * 2014 Vintage – 236 Cases Produced. To be released February 2016

SAUVIGNON BLANC – OAK KNOLL
15
Our primary source for Sauvignon Blanc, the Ryan’s Vineyard, continues to impress us year after year. With each additional year of vine age, as well as continued efforts to perfect farming practices, the vines and grapes seem to respond nicely to any given vintage. With the 2013 vintage, fresh lime and granite notes first jump from the glass. As the wine opens more, the classic fruit blossom aromas come forward along with a sweet spice quality. The wine shows a clean and delicate entry on the palate with a creamy texture and a focused acidity. It is always interesting to note, our Sauvignon Blancs tend to be lively and fresh on the palate in their infancy, but mellow and build body as the age. We enjoy them in both expressions. -320 Cases produced -Oak Knoll District -Harvested September 2013 -Whole Cluster Press -Barrel Fermented -Non Malolactic Fermentation -Neutral Oak, Barrel aged 8 months -Bottled April 2014 -$236/case Wine Enthusiast: 90 Points
