Problem Statement: Close Gastrotomy Incision

NOTES: Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery Using an endoscope, create a gastrotomy to gain access to peritoneal cavity to perform surgery

Design Parameters Incision Length: 2 cm Stomach wall thickness: 3-5 mm Heal within 7-14 days Endoscope Port Diameter: 3-4 mm Length: Varies, depending on scope

Nitinol Mixture of nickel and titanium Thermal Shape Memory Shape dependent on temperature Biocompatibility Several FDA approved devices High corrosion resistance Intermetallic, not an alloy Bonding force between nickel and titanium strong Elastic Deployment Pass through narrow canal Return to original shape
