Germany moves to strike Schlieffen Plan Quick sweep through France to knock them out of the war Stalemate at Marne River “No man’s land” Plan fails due to early victories by Russians

France moves to strike Attack plan similar to Germany’s Trench warfare appears on the scene Fortified cities British force helps out
