2 P a r i s Paris - the city and the capital of France, the administrative center of the region Ile-de- France. Paris is located on the banks of the River Seine, in the heart of the Paris Basin, 145 km from the English Channel. The length of the city from east to west is 18 km from north to south - 9.5 km. Paris walking on foot in less than two hours.

4 P A R I S - P A R I S - is a great city with its architectural monuments, sights and beautiful places. Today we take a look at some of the sights: The Eiffel tower The Cathedral of Notre- Dame (Notre Dame de Paris) The Arc de Triomphe The Louvre Elysian fields

5 The Eiffel tower The Eiffel Tower was built for the World Exhibition in 1889, held in celebration of the French Revolution of 1789. Named after its designer Gustave Eyfelya.Bashnya erected on the Champ de Mars in front of Jena bridge over the River Seine embankment Branli.Vse fragments were collected by hand and then connected to each other by means of 7,000,000 nails.

6 Cathedral of Notre-Dame (Notre Dame de Paris)  Notre Dame Cathedral was built in the western part of the Ile de la Cité. Cathedral in the Gothic style. Construction began in 1163, when King Louis VII of France, and ended in 1345. The main creators of Notre Dame are considered two architects - Jean de Shel.V 1831 Victor Hugo published the novel "Notre Dame de Paris."

8 Gargoyles and Chimera of Notre Dame de Paris. Chimeras have long been considered the guardians of the cathedral. It was believed that the chimera come alive at night, and leave their possessions, carefully guarding the rest of the building. In fact, according to the creators of the cathedral chimera represent human nature and diversity of moods, from melancholy to anger, from smiling to tears.

9 The Arc de Triomphe  The Arc de Triomphe - a monument in the 8th arrondissement of Paris on the Place Charles de Gaulle, built in 1806-1836 by the architect Jean Shalgrenom on the orders of Napoleon to commemorate the victories of his Grande Armée.

10 Louvre  The Louvre - the old royal palace in Paris, rebuilt the palace, situated on the right bank of the Seine. After the French Revolution, the Louvre became known as the Central Museum of the Arts. In the Louvre palace today are the Louvre Museum.

11 Champs Elysees   Champs Elysees - one of the main thoroughfares in the VIII district Parizha.Nazvanie comes from Elysium in Greek mythology. Champs Elysees - lovely Elysium in the afterlife on the banks of the river Ocean, where at the end of mortal life by the gods fall favorite heroes.
