Guiding Framework P.S. 82 will support the six elements of the Framework for Great School with a host of programs and initiatives in order to support student achievement. These initiatives will involve all stakeholders, including: teachers, staff, parents, students, and the community

Rigorous Instruction ▪Teachers unpack the standards using a protocol ▪Instruction is guided through “I Can” statements ▪Pre- and post- benchmark and unit assessments to analyze work against targets ▪Teachers utilize the Hess/Webb Cognitive matrix for rigorous tasks ▪UDL techniques employed ▪Differentiated Small Groups ▪Cycle of Learning utilized throughout the instruction process Framework for Great Schools

Supportive Environment ▪Safe and supportive environment (Danielson) ▪RTI interventions ▪AIS afterschool support and ENL Saturday Institute ▪Creative scheduling to support new teachers and entering/emerging ENL students ▪Programs for the “whole child” include: ▪Swim for Life ▪Ballet Tech ▪Arts Programming ▪Mighty Milers ▪Student Soccer teams ▪School-wide PBIS program Framework for Great Schools

Collaborative Teachers ▪Horizontal and vertical teacher teams ▪Horizontal teams: ▪Literacy lead teachers ▪Writing lead teachers ▪Math lead teachers ▪Grade leaders ▪Core Instructional lead teachers ▪Vertical teams across grades with cluster teachers ▪Other collaborative groups: ▪SLT, PBIS, PLC, SIT, MOSL, ENL, Instructional, Consultation, Sunshine Framework for Great Schools

Effective School Leadership ▪Development of a PD plan, based on needs assessment and data, to nurture and enhance staff pedagogy ▪Ultimate goal is aimed towards impacting student achievement ▪Creation of a New Teacher Institute, with monthly learning sessions ▪ Instructional cabinet weekly meetings to monitor school progress against established goals Framework for Great Schools

Strong Family-Community Ties ▪Development of a yearlong professional development program to support parents ▪Common Core workshops ▪ELA and Math workshops, SWD workshops ▪Community outreach ▪Family programs include: ▪Family Math Night ▪International Festival ▪Saturday ENL Academy ▪Mighty Milers races ▪School and Class newsletters Framework for Great Schools

Trust ▪Feedback is encouraged and collaborative solutions are reached ▪Teachers and staff are recognized and acknowledged through weekly newsletters ▪All questions and opinions valued ▪All stakeholders to be involved in creating a shared vision for the school, including: ▪Teachers ▪Staff ▪Parents ▪Outside Community ▪Students Framework for Great Schools
