Is often known as mystery fiction, it is driven by one single protagonist and follows the process of detection. It involves a detective, or detectives solving a crime or a series of crimes. The detective may be a private investigator, a police officer, an elderly widow, or a young girl, but the person solving the crime usually has nothing material to gain from solving the crime. The Murders of Rue Morgue and The Maltese Falcon

Mystery fiction involves a detective, either amateur or professional solve a crime or series or crimes. Criminal not mentioned before in the story, not so based on logic as detective fiction. Scooby Doo, Sherlock Holmes

The main plot concerns two people falling in love and struggling to make the relationship work. The climax resolves the problem. No graphic sex, female fictional characters to the strong, reflects of topical social concern. Highway Time, Blues in the Night, Dear John, Letters to Juliet.

Genre of fiction that is intended to scare or frighten the reader, it creates an eerie atmosphere. Often involves a murder. Weird Settings, high emotions, distressed people, and frightened people. Dracula, Frankenstein, The Phantom of The Opera.
