copyright©amberpasillas2010 Solve 7/10n + 3/2 = 3/5n + 2 Step 1: Determine Least Common Multiple. (10) Step 2: Multiple all terms by 10. Step 3: Subtract 15 and 6n from both sides.

copyright©amberpasillas2010 Solve 1/7k – 6 = 3/7k + 4 A: k = - 35

copyright©amberpasillas2010 Solve 5/6y + 1 = -1/2y + ¼ A: y = -9/16

copyright©amberpasillas2010 Example 2 J avier walks from his house to the zoo at a constant rate. After walking 0.75 mile, he meets his brother and they continue walking. When they arrive at the zoo, Javier has walked for 0.5 hour and Raul has walked for 0.2 What is the rate in miles per hour? 0.2r + 0.75 = 0.5r Multiply by 100 20r + 75 = 50r Subtract 20r 75 = 30r Divide by 30 R = 2.5

copyright©amberpasillas2010 Your Turn #5 Logan has two aquariums. One aquarium contains 1.3 cubic feet of water and the other 1.9 cubic feet. The water in the larger aquarium weighs 37.44 pounds more than the water in the smaller one. Find the weight of 1 cubic feet of water. 1.9x = 1.3x + 37.44.6x = 37.44 X = 62.4 lbs
