Sharon Gonzalez Introduction MAED--Teaching Learning and Leading in the 21st Century

Background My name is Sharon Gonzalez, and I currently live in New Jersey. I am married to a wonderful man and together, we have four children; they range from age 11 to two years old. I currently work as a substitute teacher, so that I can have some time for my two year old as well as completing my school work. My professional background is that I worked in the school system for over six years now and do enjoy it. I have a BA in Social Science with Education concentration and Psychology, from Ashford University; and is currently pursuing my MA in Education with specialization in Family and Community Services. Upon graduation I would like to be a family counselor or community college professor

School Experience I attend public schools throughout my schools years, from Pre-K to 12 grade. I cannot remember any experience that makes a difference or impact my life in an extraordinary way. However, I relocated to the United States at the age of 16, starting 11 th grade, and one thing that I do remember up to today, which I do share with others, is the difference in education curriculum. At grade eleven here in American, I do remember completing class work that I have completed in 8 th grade back in my country in Jamaica. Therefore, I was one of the smarter student in the class only because I have already knows the work. They then put me into honors classes and I was advance over those classes as well, so I place me in classes that allows me to take college courses. By the end of my 11 th grade my school counselor and principal told me that I did not need twelve grade and that I can graduate with the seniors at the end of the school year and received my diploma without having to take twelve grade.

Future Careers College professor teaching Psychology Family counselor Social Worker

Master Degree Role In order for me to be a Professor, or a family counselor, I do a MA degree. This will open the opportunity for me to be able to apply to these positions and obtain my goals. I do not need a MA for social Services, a BA degree is fine enough, however, with an MA I will have more opportunities.

Personal Quote I can accomplish anything, I can’t should never use (not in my vocabulary)
