Vocabulary Area—The number of square units needed to cover a surface enclosed by a geometric figure. Base—Any side of a parallelogram or triangle. The bases of a trapezoid are parallel sides. Height—The length of the segment perpendicular to the base with endpoints on opposite sides. 2

Notes To find the area of a parallelogram you multiply the base and height. A = bh or A = b · h 3
