CIVIL WAR IN CHINA THE COMMUNISTS WIN THE WAR FORCING THE NATIONALISTS (CHIANG KAI-SHEK) TO FLEE TO TAIWAN, (FORMOSA), AN ISLAND OFF THE COAST OF CHINA CIVIL WAR IN KOREA THE WAR ENDS IN A STALEMATE = KOREA REMAINED TWO NATIONS DIVIDED BY A DEMILITARIZED ZONE. THE U.S. LOST 54,000 AMERICAN LIVES AND SPENT $54 BILLION ON THE WAR

CIVIL WAR IN CHINA AMERICANS WERE SHOCKED AND DISMAYED TO LEARN THAT THE POLICY OF CONTAINMENT HAD FAILED AND DEMANDED EXPLANATIONS FROM THE GOVT. CIVIL WAR IN KOREA AMERICANS ARE ANGRY, FEARFUL, AND SHOCKED THE HIGH COSTS OF THE UNSUCCESSFUL WAR LED AMERICANS TO REJECT THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY
