6 Class Schedule Class #1: April 1, 2008 In-person @ Johnston Public Library [9:30AM—3:30PM] Classes #2—8 : April 8, 15, 22, 29, May 6, 13, 20 via the ICN [9:00AM—12:00PM]

7 Homework Assignments  There are 4 written homework assignments. Send by email to instructor’s home at mckewpac@longlines.com mckewpac@longlines.com  Assignments may be written in the body of the email or written in WORD and sent as an email attachment; no other attachments, please. Handwritten papers will not be accepted  Save copies in case of loss or damage

8 Homework continued…  Instructor will read and critique assignments as they arrive in Sioux City. Work will be returned, with scores and comments, within 7- 10 days of receipt  Do not “bundle” assignments by turning them in all at once. Please send 1 written assignment at a time—and on time—to best keep pace with the class. Points will be deducted for bundled assignments and late arrival

9 Homework continued…  Only turn in answers to questions labeled “Written Homework.” Do not send answers to those labeled “Discussion Questions.”  Typically, it will not be necessary to re-submit assignments  Homework assignments must be done individually; term projects may be done with partners. Term projects are due on May 13, one week before the last day of classes. [See resource materials and/or PLM1 website for details about term projects…]

10 Homework continued…  Schedule of assignment completion: Class #1 written assignment = Due April 8 Class #2 written assignment = Due April 15 Class #3 written assignment = Due April 22 Class #7 written assignment = Due May 20

11 Attendance  Attendance is expected at the first day of class, when all students statewide and the instructor meet face-to-face  Thereafter, the 7 remaining sessions are held over the ICN. Students are also expected to attend each ICN session and stay for the entire class period (the State Library allows for inclement weather or ICN network failure…)  Roll call will be taken during each ICN session

12 Point System & Course Completion To earn a Public Library Management 1 Certificate of Completion, students must earn at least 65 out of 75 possible points  4 written assignments @ 5 points each = 20 points max  Term project @ 20 points max  Web board discussion @ 25 points max  Course evaluation @ 10 points max
