What can you do with your hands? Brainstorm a list in your sketchbook How can you communicate with your hands? How can you learn information with your hands?

Think about your object as a sculpture in the round What will your inspiration be? Will you make it abstract or representational? How does it fit in your hand? What will it rest on when it is not in your hand? What methods of construction will you use? It should be interesting from all angles

Minimum Requirements Handheld Sculpture Lesson Must create a sculpture in the round that has some kind of relationship with your hand Must use at least 2 methods of construction Must create a method of display for sculpture (such as a pedestal or base) Experimentation with form, texture, balance, rhythm, positive and negative space

Homework due Friday, September 19th: Find 10 inspirational images for this assignment (whatever that may mean— colors, patterns, forms, ceramic work, nature, architecture, the list is endless. 3 full page sketches of 3 different ideas
