Frequencies & Wavelength Range of Frequency in Hertz (Hz): 4 x 10^14 Hz – 7.5x 10^14 Hz Range of Wavelength in Meters (m): 4 x 10^-7 m – 1.5 x 10^-7m
3
What Gives Off Light? In nature, anything that is hot enough to glow will produce light Example: The Sun
4
Man-Made Applications Three man-made uses of light are: Light Bulbs Lasers Prisms Lasers are used in Printers and CD & DVD Players (Prisms bend white light into the colors of the rainbow)

Effects of Visible Light Having too much light can damage the retina in your eye. This can happen when you look at something very bright, such as the sun. Although the damage can heal, if it’s too bad it will be permanent.
6
Protection The #1 way to protect your eyes against the sunlight is to wear UV protected sunglasses. (If you can’t afford sunglasses, stay inside where it’s dark)
