11 Pioneering Electronic Standards in Florida F A S T E R b Decision has been made by the state FASTER committee to continue converting from FASTER format to ANSI ASC X12 (SPEEDE/ExPRESS) format b No firm target date for this conversion

12 Pioneering Electronic Standards in Florida Florida Academic Counseling & Tracking for Students (FACTS) b Database for all public community colleges and universities and many private schools b Students can search for program info by school, program or degree level

13 Pioneering Electronic Standards in Florida Florida Academic Counseling & Tracking for Students (FACTS) b Uses each transfer institution’s Degree Audit program b Accesses each home institution’s transcript on-line via EDI with a standard EDI format (not SPEEDE)

14 Pioneering Electronic Standards in Florida F A C T S Advisement b For example, student in France, attended M-DCC, wants to go to UF, accesses M-DCC transcript and UF degree audit to determine transfer status in specific program

15 Pioneering Electronic Standards in Florida F A C T S App for Admission b Student logs onto FACTS website b Student creates user ID and password b Chooses school, term and program b FACTS confirms OK to apply b Student provides information requested b Students saves and returns later or saves and submits application

16 Pioneering Electronic Standards in Florida F A C T S Admission b Student provided confirmation number b Student info either sent immediately to school or saved in FACTS server for later retrieval by school

17 Pioneering Electronic Standards in Florida F A C T S Admission b If student chooses to apply to another FACTS school, information previously given is not re-entered. b Information saved for a student 6 months b Information stored uses ANSI ASC X12 TS 189 for data element values b TS 189 values are sent to school
