1 CS10K Community Roles and Responsibilities

3 Facilitator Responsibilities - Project Facilitate engagement of participants in your PD projects in the community – Recruit participants – Assist participants with use of the CoP – Answer participant questions – don’t let postings go for more than 24 hours without a response – Provide recognition of excellent participation – Get PIs (and other experts) to participate when important and possible Upload and categorize relevant project content – Prompt/facilitate discussion about it – Help curate (classify, summarize, retire) resources and postings from participants Moderate discussions in your and your project participants’ areas of interest and specialty – Figure out what isn’t being talked and start and moderate discussions – Engage relevant users in discussions (e.g., a teacher that mentioned a similar thing earlier)

4 Facilitator Responsibilities - Global Form and moderate ad hoc groups, projects, and events – Determine topics and products of shared interest across projects – Work with PIs to organize events Help improve the community design and support other projects – Update others on your project activities and outcomes – Review and respond to formative assessment reports – Provide feedback and suggestions to social learning team about technology Participate in a leadership team Participate in bi-weekly online meetings of the facilitators Participate in training and professional learning opportunities provided by the social learning team

5 Social Learning Team Responsibilities Coaches community coordinator and facilitators and provides training Liaisons with NSF, ED, other organizations (e.g., CSTA, Ensemble) as needed Curates content and activities Identifies possible bridging activities and external collaborations Advises facilitators and community coordinator on resolving conflicts Builds, supports and improves community technology Conducts and presents formative assessment
