2 Learning Objectives….. Knowledge: Of the growth and development which occurs in middle adulthood. Understanding: Of the PIES in middle adulthood and how these compare to those in early adulthood. Skill: Verbal communication, Research, Analysis Pass: Identifying the key aspects of physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of mid adulthood. Merit: Your key aspects should be described in detail and compared against the similarities during early adulthood

3 Give one get one!! You will each have a piece of text. Write your information on your sheet in the correct PIES box. Walk around the room and speak to one person at a time to share the information that you both have. You have 8 minutes You now have 1 min to compare notes with your shoulder partner

4 Early adulthood Vs Middle adulthood Adulthood ranges from 19-65, the changes which occur during this time are varied. The development which occur in early adulthood are significantly different from those which occur in middle adulthood.Demonstrate: Use your notes from this and last lesson to complete the comparison alley. You must explain the differences between the life stages and identify the similarities. Books/ sheets are available which are highlighted showing the differences between early and late adulthood.

8 After the age of 30 years physical changes begin to become noticeable. E.g. Grey hair, Less flexible, menopause Hearing and sight will start to decline Skin becomes wrinkly Will have good organisation skills Able to juggle work, social life, family life, Will return to education if they feel they have not achieved during adolescence or early adulthood. Intellectual health becomes important A mid life crisis can occur during this age. Fewer job options available which can be upsetting and lower self esteem Looking after own ageing parents can be an emotional strain Children will leave home which means that parents may have an “empty space” in their life By this time a person will have good communication skills because they speak to lots of people. At this age adults will have a number of different types of friends, school friends work friends, college friends and partners friends and extended family.
