Past perfect

What is the past perfect? You use the past perfect to show something happened before something else happened. Very often you combine the past perfect with the past simple. Usually there is one of the following words in the sentence: after, before, as soon as or when. I had baked some cookies before I died. You first baked some cookies, then you died. Examples Question form: Had she met him at the cinema? Had + subject + past participle + ? Affirmative form: She had met him at the cinema. Subject + had + past participle Negative form: She hadn’t met him at the cinema. Subject + had + n’t/not + past participle
