1
Aim: How are renewable and non- renewable resources different? DO NOW Place pictures into the correct category: Renewable vs. Non- Renewable
2
Can be replaced, within a reasonable time Examples: sunlight, water, animals & plants, wood & foods
3
Non-Renewable Resources Cannot be replaced within a reasonable time Examples: fossil fuels and minerals Fossil fuels include coal, oil and natural gas Minerals include iron ore, aluminum, silver
4
Energy Sources
5
Renewable Energy
6
Non-Renewable Energy
7
Comparison
9
Limited Resources When we increase our use of limited resources, some resources can be depleted or used up & cannot be renewed Renewable resources can still be in danger, if they are being used up too quickly and cannot be renewed quickly
10
Preserving Resources Reduce: use less of the resource Reuse: Reuse the same thing over and over again, instead of throwing it out Recycle: plastic, glass metal & paper products can be re-used, so throw them in the recycling bin!
