2. Low Flow delivery Nasal Cannula & Simple Face MAsk
Nasal “prongs” Cannula
1 liter (24%) to 6 liter (44%) 02, humidify 4 liters and >
Room air is 21% 02
1 liter NC is 24%- each liter increase is 4% More (common ref range)
Simple Face Mask 6-10 or 12 Liters/MIN, 35-50% 02

3. Partial-non-rebreather & Non-Rebreather Masks
Short term therapy
Concentrations of 60-90% 02
10-15 liters per minute
Partial non-rebreather- some exhaled air is re-inhaled
Non-rebreather- exhaled out vents, then valve closes, not re-inhaled, reservoir bag with 02

4. LOW FLOW Oxygen conserving
Long term therapy “moustache” cannula- up to 8 liters 02/min, has oximizer that allows ½ amount of liters flow compared to nasal cannula
For example 4 l Nasal Prong cannula = 2 L Moustache Cannula

5. High Flow Oxygen delivery
Tracheostomy collar mask- no less than 8 liters, must be humidified with sterile h20
Venturi mask -Delivers 24-50% O2 depending on which connector is used: Green: 24,26,28 & 30 % White: 35, 40 & 50%, very accurate delivery

6. Signs & Symptoms 02 Toxicity
Nausea and vomiting
Non-productive cough
Hypoventilation
Fatigue
Headache
Substernal chest pain
Nasal congestion
02 sat normal or high, example for a copd patient
