Corrymeela SOS Trip By Eastbank Academy & St Mungos Academy

WHERE WE WENT ? We travelled from Glasgow to Cairnryan. Then we got onto the ferry and went to Belfast. After a 2 and a half hour journey we travelled to Corrymeela. Corrymeela is a peace and reconciliation organisation in Ballycastle.

WHO WENT ? There was 20 pupils from St Mungo’s Academy and 20 pupils from Eastbank Academy. There were also 2 members of staff from each school. Also there were 2 members from SOS

WHAT WE DID ? We learned about sectarianism and the troubles in Northern Ireland. We participated in a variety of activities. We stayed there for one week.

Corrymeela is a peace and reconciliation facility to create peace between the division of Catholics and Protestants in Ireland. Every year volunteers from all over the world go to Ireland to work at Corrymeela. What is Corrymeela ?

Activities we participated in Team building activities. Flag identity session Bowling Work on the play Looking at issues within our community Working on the plot for our DVD. History of troubles in Ireland Trip to Belfast.

Our Community Project Our aim is to promote an anti-sectarian message. We have produced a DVD, which we will provide to youth clubs and community groups. We will now show you this DVD
