2 The Story of the “Atlanta Braves Algebra” Manager Bobby Cox needs your help! It’s halfway through the season, and he has no stats to study. He’s trying to decide who should start after the All-Star Break and needs to figure out Batting Averages, Earned Run Averages, Slugging Percentages, and On-Base Percentages. You don’t have much time—it’s the night before the second half of the season and Bobby needs these stats. After you figured them all out, you have to get the stats in Bobby’s hands. You’ve arrived at Turner Field and are at the front gate and Bobby is in his office. Wind your way through the park and get Bobby his stats! Home Page

3 Game Directions The goal of Atlanta Braves Algebra is to travel around Turner Field and be the first player or team to make it to Bobby Cox’s office. To play the game, you or your team must answer the game questions correctly to move around the game board. The different spaces mean different things. AND- each member of your team has to take turns calculating answers! “Green” Spaces- pick a question and solve the problem “Strike out” Spaces (orange)- draw a card and do what it tells you to “Attraction” Spaces (blue)- pick a question and solve the problem. If you get it right, draw a bonus card. If you answer the bonus card correctly, move ahead to the next Attraction Space and wait to draw a question until your next turn. To win the game, you or your team must reach Bobby Cox’s office first! Return

They will need pencil, paper, and a calculator if you allow them to play the game. Make sure you test out the game before classes arrive to make sure it is working correctly! Home Page
