Todorovs Theory Basically Todorov believes that most stories/plots follow the same 5 steps. 1.Equilibrium 2.Disruption 3.Realisation 4.Restored order 5.Equilibrium again He also believed the story would always follow a linear path.
4
1.Equilibrium This means, a calm and normal beginning. For example the start of Jurassic world.
5
2.Disruption When something stops the equilibrium. Forces the hero to act For example: when they believe the indominus rex has escaped
6
3.realisation The moment when the people realize what the problem is. When the park realizes they cant stop the dinosaur
7
4.Restored order When the hero/main character attempts to fix the problem or they realize how to. When the main character goes to stop the indominus rex
8
5.Equilibrium again When Equilibrium is restored After the problem is fixed (happy ending) When the kids reunite with their parents
9
Movies that follow todorovs theory Jurassic world/park Simpsons movie Guardians of the galaxy Big hero 6 Captain America: winter soldier Transformers
10
Movies that don’t The maze runner Memento Pulp fiction Movies that either don’t follow a linear path or if there was no equilibrium in the movie in the first place.
