HISTORY Modern Perama started being built in the 1920s when lots of refugees came here to start a new life after the hardship they had suffered, and also immigrants from other parts of Greece especially islands. The first shipyards were built in 1928 so there was enough work for them. Perama became more and more populated so nowadays more than twenty five thousand people live here.
