Tuesday 3 rd June 2014 Your candle may be a memorial of a loved one, or for those in need who are far away, or it may be to remind you of your inner light and the love the God has for you. Your candle will serve as a symbol of your own sincere and prayerful intentions. Our prayer community will join you in prayer, multiplying the voices in petition with you. Your candle can be shared with friends and family, if you wish. Take time to be silent and reverent whilst contemplating on your intentions and use the time to be still in the presence of Christ. These candles are perfect for loved ones, as memorials, and for those in need who are far away. Light a candle today In a similar way that you would meditate and reflect before your candle, many people meditate and revere the Blessed Sacrament. This is known as benediction. The consecrated Host is placed in a monstrance and set upon the alter. The blessing with the Eucharist is preceded by a reasonable time for readings of the word of God, songs, prayers, and a period for silent prayer. The readings, songs and prayers are meant to direct attention to worship of Christ in the Eucharist. A prayerful spirit is encouraged also by periods of silence and by a homily aimed at developing a better understanding of the mystery of the Eucharist.

Let us pray together Angel of God's light, whom God sends as a companion for me on earth, protect me from the snares of the devil, and help me to walk always as a child of God, my Creator. Angel of God's truth, whose perfect knowledge serves what is true, protect me from deceits and temptations. Help me to know the truth, and always to live in light and truth. Angel of God's love, who praises Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, who sacrificed His life for love of us, sustain me as I learn the ways of Divine love, of sacrificial generosity, of meekness and lowliness of heart. Angel of God’s care I commit into your loving arms, all those whom I love. Bless those who you have taken to be with you as well as those who are far from me and in need of your peace. May they know the tranquillity of resting in your presence. Thank You, my heavenly friend, for your light and guidance and watchful care. Amen.
