Eutrophication What is it?
2
Eutrophication begins when nutrients such as nitrates and phosphates run off into a body of water.

4
These nutrients come from many sources such as animal wastes, agricultural runoff, fertilizing lawns and sewage Cbf.org library.thinkquest.org
5
Algae grows into algal blooms because they have more nutrients than the environment usually provides. Marietta.org
6
These blooms are dense, visible patches near the surface of the water, prohibiting light from going into the deeper areas of the body of water. After the algae die, bacteria increase in large numbers. Sciencebuzz.org
7
Bacteria use the oxygen in water, a dead zone will be appear. This zone has little or no oxygen. As the oxygen is used up, the fish and other creatures that need oxygen begin to suffocate and die.
8
What can you do to prevent this? Do your research and please comment saawinternational.org
