DO’S & DON’TS OF MEN’S FASHION The Gentlemen’s Guide to Looking Your Best in 2014
2
THE BASICS OF MEN’S FASHION Men’s fashion is often a slippery slope of what’s in style this season versus what anyone would actually want to wear. At William Henry, we believe in the “Classic Man.” Cool, bold, and effortlessly stylish, our men transcend the latest trends, and wear their personality like a statement. That’s why we’ve created a simple guide on how to dress and style simply, while remaining true to yourself.

1. DO INVEST IN A GOOD SUIT Pro Tip: If the TV show Mad Men has taught us anything, classic styles never go out of fashion. Keep it cool by never buttoning the bottom of a 2 or 3-button suit. If there’s one good thing in your closet, it should be your suit. A staple of any wardrobe, suits can be dressed up or down for any occasion. If you can only own one, follow these body type guidelines: Slim Build: Double-Breasted Suit Slim Build: Double-Breasted Suit Short Build: One-Button Suit Short Build: One-Button Suit Broad Shoulders: Two-Button Suit Broad Shoulders: Two-Button Suit Heavy-Set: Three-Button Suit Heavy-Set: Three-Button Suit

2. DON’T IGNORE TAILORING Even the most expensive outfit will look cheap if it’s not tailored to your body. Unless you’re going to the gym, loose fitting clothes look sloppy, so take the time out to get your pants and shirts professionally tailored. A professional tailor will also be able to help you determine what cuts and styles look best on you.

3. DO INVEST IN COMFORTABLE FOOTWEAR Pro Tip: Black shoes match all suit colors except brown. Brown shoes will generally match all suit colors except black. Whether you rock a suit or a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, your shoes will make a big difference on not only how you look, but how confident you feel. Take the time to look for shoes with classic details and made from high quality materials. These little investments now will save you from dealing with blistered feet and uncomfortable situations.

4. DO INVEST IN THE BASICS There are timeless pieces every man needs in their closet. Below we’ve listed the basic tools of the trade. 5. DO ACESSORIZE 6. DON’T WEAR BIG BLING Men have come a long way in terms of fashion. Gone are the days where accessories were associated with femininity and frivolity. Rather, these days men’s jewelry and accessories are more on point with art and technology. That being said, men’s accessories should be kept simple and classic. Look for pieces that emphasize workmanship and your own individuality, rather than the amount of diamonds that can be fit on it.

7. DON’T BE YOUR PERSONALITY 7. DON’T BE AFRAID TO SHOW YOUR PERSONALITY Let your clothes and accessories reflect who you are and not how much you own. Don’t be afraid to take risks in your fashion as long as you wear it with confidence and fearlessness in mind.

8. DO KEEP IT CLASSIC Classic style and innovative accessories are hallmarks of a William Henry man. From wearing dinosaur cufflinks with your favorite T-shirt and blazer to donning a meaningful pendant over a three-piece suit, we believe in men who take risks, while remaining true to classic design. For us, classic doesn’t just mean simple, rather it refers to bold lines, flattering cuts, and timeless ideas that make a sharp statement, while remaining understated and tasteful.
