Objective: To appreciate the rhythm and rhyme of a poem; to read classic poetry We’re going to read a poem called Notice. As we read we will discover rhyming words throughout the poem. We will read the poem two times. The first time I want you to bark once when we say dog, meow once when we say cat, and croak once when we say frog. The second time we read it I want you to clap if you hear a rhyming word in lines 1 or 3. I want you to stomp your feet if you hear a rhyming word in lines 2 and 4.

The main idea of a story is what the story is mostly about. Let’s review the main ideas of some stories we have recently read. “The Lion and the Mouse” A lion shows kindness to a mouse, who saves the lion’s life in return one day. “One More Friend” An ant shows kindness by making room for all her friends. “We’re Going on a Lion Hunt” Two girls have a hard journey, but also have fun on a lion hunt.
