3 T HE C ASK OF A MONTILLADO Verbal Irony- a person says or writes one thing but means the opposite Example: Saying “That’s great!” when obviously it isn’t Dramatic Irony- the audience knows something the characters do not Example: In a scary movie, the character goes somewhere the audience knows is unsafe. Romeo thinks Juliet is dead when the audience knows she is not.

In your epilogue, provide the prosecuting attorney’s closing argument, reminding the jury of any evidence that proves Montresor’s guilt. Then provide the defense attorney’s closing argument. What is the jury’s final verdict? Type in MLA (1-2 pages).
