SATs : Standard Attainment Tests SATs will take place: week beginning week beginning Monday 9th th May 2015

Test Timetable Mon 9 th May: English Reading Test Tues 10 th May:English Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling Test Wed 11 th May:Arithmetic Paper 1 Maths Paper 2 Thurs 12 th May:Maths Paper 3

Reading This test consists of a reading answer booklet and a separate reading booklet. Pupils will have a total of 1 hour to read the 3 texts in the reading booklet and complete the questions at their own pace. They can approach the test as they choose: e.g. working through one text and answering the questions before moving on to the next. The least-demanding text will come first with the following texts increasing in level of difficulty.

Maths Arithmetic Paper- This test consists of a single test paper. Pupils will have 30 minutes to complete the test, answering the questions in the test paper.

Maths Paper 1 This test consists of a single test paper. Pupils will have 40 minutes to complete the test, answering the questions in the test paper.

Maths Paper 2 This test consists of a single test paper. Pupils will have 40 minutes to complete the test, answering the questions in the test paper.

Maths Paper 1 and 2 Equipment Pupils will need the equipment specified below: a blue / black pen or a dark pencil rubber (optional). If rubbers are not provided, you should tell the pupils that they may cross out any answer that they wish to change a sharp, dark pencil for mathematical drawing ruler (showing centimetres and millimetres) angle measurer or protractor mirror.

Pupils will have approximately 15 minutes to complete the test (not strictly timed), by writing the 20 missing words in the answer booklet. Level 6 These papers no longer exist. The new tests are designed so that the most able pupils will have the opportunity to showcase their skills within the standard papers.

Scaled Scores For each test a raw score will be converted to a scaled score. 100 will be the expected score for an average child completing the tests. Above 100 is exceeding and below is working towards. Teacher Assessment – overall picture of level children are working at (writing is all teacher assessments) High School will receive test results and teacher assessments- this year the high school can access the test papers and the raw scores, meaning they can get a head start on where the children need to develop.
