Motte & Bailey Castle By the late eleventh to early twelve century a Mote & Bailey castle was built on Castle Hill to control the existing Angelo-Saxon town of ‘Werchescope’. (Worksop). Although there is no evidence of the castle today you can still see the mound the castle would have been built on. Worksop Heritage Trail
