3 Rob Rutledge & Lynne Robinson Dalhousie University Canadian CBO Knowledge exchange study RECRUITMENT All CBOs invited who provide national, patient-focused, psychosocial oncology services Exclusion: if primary focus research or serving as network 13 of 14 invitees gave consent for taped interview Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Thyroid Cancer Support Group, Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia Society, Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada, Lung Cancer Canada, Lymphoma Foundation of Canada, National Ovarian Cancer Association, Ovarian Cancer Canada, RealTime Cancer, Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation, Willow Breast Cancer Support Canada Interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis

Cancer Practice,9,19-26 Simpson, Carlson, Trew. 2001. Of 28 treated Women Less depression, mood disturbance Better QL and symptoms Billings - $221 less per woman in Rx group 24% reduction in comparison Total system saved: $6199 Subtract off cost of therapists at $100 – still cost reduction $70/patient Most distressed: billed $1079 in Rx group versus $1546 in the control group EDITOR = this is the reference to the cost savings in oncology
