1 Do Now: Hand in your Reading Log to your designated class bin! Free Write Friday! Take this time to write down anything you are interested in! You can think of a creative story you would like to share or your own personal feelings and ideas. Just continue writing until the timer bell dings!

2 Remembering/ Reflecting on Last week! Please take out the poem from last week.  What were the images that you left yourself?  What did you write down as you reflected last week?  What does that make you feel like or think now?

4 Creative Writing Use this time to create something that you feel passionate about.  You have a few options Option 1- Use the information you gained today, or know of September 11, 2001 Option 2- Use prior knowledge of an event that happened in your life that you had to presevere or overcome something tragic or unfortunate Option 3- Use information you know about another event that took place where the people involved had to persevere and rise above the adversity presented.  Choose between option 1, 2, or 3and then you can move on  Then move on to the next step You may create anything from the list below:  Poem  Song  Narrative  Scene/skit  Journal entry  Letter  Newspaper article  Comic strip  Picture(s)  Quote analysis  Interview

5 Guidelines You must always be working on your creative piece, and you will not complete this assignment today. Follow these guidelines to ensure the highest grade possible on the rubric.  Poem- Does not need to rhyme, but must follow a poetic form and should be at least 14-20 lines long  Song/rap- Should have a rhythm, should have a chorus that repeats and a detailed encounter of the event  Narrative- Must be between 4-5 paragraphs and should contain a detailed beginning, middle, and end  Scene/skit- Should have 2 or more characters and should also have a beginning, middle, and end.  Letter- Should have all of the aspects of a friendly letter to a loved one, or real hero/victim (3-5 paragraphs)  Journal entry- Should be similar to a letter to a loved one, but may be more personal (3-5 paragraphs)  Newspaper article- Must cover the 5 W’s about the event that took place and should be between 3-5 paragraphs  Comic strip- Must have drawings and dialogue, at least 5-7 different boxes  Picture(s)- Images, sketches, drawings of your reactions or thoughts of the event including captions  Quote analysis- Analyze a famous quote in at least 2-4 paragraphs  Interview- This must include questions and answers that are realistic and should be based off of truth, must have between 10-15 questions
