23 2. Marriage and family life Nowadays the rural households consists of parents and their children and perhaps other relatives. Traditional villages weddings involve elaborate ceremonies and last several days. The parents play an important role in the organization of the wedding. For the youth in the urban area there is a longer period between meeting and marriage. 3.Religious practice Islam includes many duties. Men and women have to pray five times a day, fast during the month of Ramadan and to visit Mecca at least once in their lifetime. Islam includes ideas about morality, charity, reward and punishment. 4.Sports and recreation Football (soccer) is a favourite sport in Turkey.
