General Tips – Cross Sections Read the questions, then read it again, and againand again! Seriously! – Know what the question is asking. Where am I? – Look for features that give clues to the location Bones Articular Surfaces “Odd” Structures Know the orientation. – For any cross-section/axial cut, we are looking at thestructure from “the feet up” (in anatomic position)

General Tips – Cross Sections When identifying muscles, appreciate the following: – Location – Origin – Insertion – Compartment (flexor, extensor, anterior, posterior, etc.) When identifying vessels – Location – Size/Diameter – Patency Both of these factors help distinguish arteries from veins Let’s practice!
