WHAT IS PLAF $50,000 for faculty professional development authorized through the 2015-2018 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)

AUTHORITY CBA 2012-2015, Reopener 2014-2015 CBA 2015-2018, Section 14.8 (pg. 112) 14.8—Professional Learning Activities Support A. The College and the Union recognize that continuing professional development of individual faculty serves and strengthens the College, therefore, the College agrees to dedicate $50,000 to support non-tuition professional learning activities for individual faculty members.

CBA 2015-2018 SECTION 14.8 (CON’T) A.1. Faculty {activities} must be approved by TPDC before expenses may be reimbursed under this fund. Funds may not be dispersed from this fund without TPDC consent. 2. College shall notify the UFF of unallocated funds. B. The above individual allotments for non-tuition activities may be supplemented with additional divisional, department, student activity fees, Foundation or other College funds as available and appropriate.

APPLICATION PROCESS Fill out the PLAF request form (not college travel form) Located on the CTE website Also available on the TPDC’s website and in the Document Center Professional Learning Activities Funds Request Form Submit electronically through the CTE

ACTIVITIES Based on faculty input from Fall 2014 survey (100+ faculty respondents) Activity suggestions were reviewed and finalized through your faculty representatives on Professional Development Standing Committee Tenure and Professional Development Council Activities listed on the PLAF Request Form Registration fees and travel costs for presenting at an academic conference. Registration fees for webinars. Registration fees and travel costs for attending an academic conference. Certification fees for workforce faculty. Other (transport of exhibition/presentation materials, professional membership dues, etc.)

FUNDING SCHEDULE CONSIDERATIONS Activities for the 2015-2016 academic year will include activities up to and including August 15, 2016. Activities occurring by June 30, 2015 will be funded out of the 2015-16 budget. Activities occurring between July 1, 2016 and August 15, 2016 will be funded out of the 2016-2017 budget. Requests submitted during AY 2015-2016 for activities occurring after Aug. 15, 2016 will be funded out of the appropriate year’s budget. All approved requests are based on funding availability

TIMELINE – Submission deadlines to CTE – Aug. 15, Oct. 1, Jan. 15, March 1 Requests may be submitted to CTE anytime, but will be reviewed by TPDC per the following schedule Applications received by August 15 will be reviewed by TPDC by August 30 Applications received by October 1 will be reviewed by TPDC by October 15 Applications received by January 15 will be reviewed by TPDC by January 30 Applications received by March 1 will be reviewed by TPDC by March 15

NEXT … After TPDC review, the request goes to – VP Academic Affairs Provost Council And EFSC Executive Council for final approval Supervising Administrator notifies faculty member CTE maintains log of funds requested, approved, and expended
