Before Editing Set up folders on hard drive –Navigate to desired drive –Right click New Folder and name it –Set up ‘gr’ folder for still photos

Import Your Video From camcorder –Capture Tab Setup Menu –Choose source – select device from list –Choose Storage drive »Set up/name folder[s] Start Capture –Runs in real time

Import Your Video From DVD –Edit Tab File menu –Import DVD Titles »Name Disc »Check title[s] to import Click Import –Shorter import time

Edit Your Video Video segments -- camera icon Transitions appear -- lightning icon Titles -- ‘T’ icon Still photos -- camera icon DVD menus -- disc icon Sound effects -- speaker icon Music -- clef icon

Edit Your Video Drag video segments to editing tray Click on clip to activate –Active clip turns blue –Mouse over ends to get ‘arrow’ to shorten clip Or – Place line at desired location and click razor blade

Edit Your Video Select transition library with pull-down menu Insert transitions between clips –Mouse over ends to get ‘arrow’ to shorten clip

Edit Your Video Note: –Save frequently ‘Save Project As’ –select same file/folder where video clips are stored. Name project. Save with a new name [e.g. project1, project2] so you can return to an earlier version if necessary.

Edit Your Video Insert title slide –Double-click to edit text/font/color/size Title overlays –Toolbox pull-down menu Create Title –Title overlay Click and drag to create text box –Type text –Edit text/font/color/size –Option: choose direction of text scroll with arrows at upper left

Edit Your Video Note: –Save frequently ‘Save Project As’ –select same file/folder where video clips are stored. Name project. Save with a new name [e.g. project1, project2] so you can return to an earlier version if necessary.

Edit Your Video Generate music –Select clips –Toolbox pull-down menu Select ‘Generate SmartSound music’ Choose Style/Song/Version Click Preview Click ‘Add to Movie’
