SUMMARY Speed limiters are required for all goods vehicles that exceed 3500kg. These vehicles are limited to 56mph when used on the motorway Any vehicle towing a trailer is limited to 60mph and therefore cannot use the outside lane on the motorway New regulations in England and Wales increased the limit for vehicles over 7500kg on single carriage ways from 40mph to 50mph and on dual carriageways from 50mph to 60mph There are no acceptable excuses for speeding The number one risk of speeding is the potential for human fatality Speeding affects reaction times, an LGV takes long enough to stop without adding speed into the equation
