About Mrs. Williams I was born in Wisconsin, but my husband was born and raised in Simi Valley Graduated from BYU degree in History Received my Teaching Credential from CSUN 2 nd year teaching at Hollow Hills Love sports and crafts My Husband and I have a two year old little boy who keeps us on our feet!

Classroom Expectations What I expect from my students: Turning work in on time Ask questions to clarify anything you do not understand Respect your fellow students and Teachers Keep your body to yourself

Classroom Expectations What you can expect from me : I will be available to you during study periods or afterschool I will show you the same amount of respect I expect from you I will return your graded assignments in a timely fashion If you put an effort into your education – so will I

The Buddy System How it works Each student has been assigned a team Each team consists of 4 students Your student will be sent home with a Buddy List which will have the contact info for the 3 other students on their team

The Buddy System Why it works If your student has a question about class and needs an immediate answer – these buddies may be a valuable resource It is strongly encouraged you ask a buddy if you have questions about class.

Career Night October 8 th 2009 Starting September 15 th we will be focusing our exploratory period on Careers Students will explore several career options Guest speakers will visit our classroom Students will prepare a Career Portfolio which will be on display for Career Night

Hollow Hills Carnival In March our class will be participating in the 4 th annual Hollow Hills Carnival. Class members will work in several areas of the Carnival production including Promotions, Booths & Attractions, Accounting and food services. We are excited to collaborate with the other classes to make this the best Carnival EVER!

Lights, Camera, Action Beginning in April we will start working on our Movie Production Exploration Unit. The students will be able to participate in key production roles including Writing Directing Acting Editing Scenery Construction and Costumes We have some really exciting guest speakers lined up to speak to us from DreamWorks animation and Warner Brothers Studios. We will finish up the unit with an exciting Field Trip to a Disney Soundstage followed by a friends and family red carpet premiere of the film the students will produce.

Pen Pal Program Our class will be Pen Pals with a class in Seoul, Korea Each student will have their own Pen Pal We will write letters and emails throughout the year and send a video post card to our new friends

Hollow Hills Shorts Policy Mr. Calcagno uses Weatherbug.com specifically for Hollow Hills to make his daily shorts decision.Weatherbug.com If the forecast on Sunday evening is for a 90° day, shorts may be worn on Monday. On Tuesday through Friday, at the principals discretion, shorts days will be communicated through teacher announcements and banners on the fence. Girls may wear capris any day but they MUST BE MID-CALF length, not just below the knee Shorts are to be mid thigh and not skin tight. Bicycle shorts are not allowed

Parent Volunteers needed Due to budget restructuring, we no longer have a teachers aide. We are asking each family to volunteer for three days in the classroom Sign – up sheet is located just outside the room door I will send you a reminder a week before you are scheduled to volunteer
