Making Comparisons 1 –Listen to 2 different versions of the same song… –Identify the elements of each track that make them different from each other: –You may wish to use the following as a basis of discussion for the last question: The feel / groove of the music Style of playing / singing Technological differences – how the record was produced. Comment on as many Musical Elements as you can! Song 1 Song 2

Analysing Music –Find 3 tracks of music from 3 different eras. (eg: 1950's / 1970's / 1990's) –Try and pick 3 different genres too for variety. Describe a brief history / background of the performer / band / artist and the track. Discuss how the music fits into the genre - this is it's social background and how it links with it's time etc... –Describe the actual track... What instruments are being heard? How do they link with the genre? What Musical Elements can you hear? –You should write at least 250 words for each track. Submit your work as a Word Document on Moodle.
