Settlement A permanent collection of buildings where people live, work, shop, etc. What do you need for a settlement to thrive? How will services provided show the affluence or poverty of a settlement?

(Demand) Retail & wholesale services dept stores, grocers, car sales Education services tutoring (not teachers), private schools Health & social services hospitals, doctors, nursing homes Leisure & hospitality restaurants, hotels, concerts, sports

Business services Facilitate activities of other businesses Professional law, accounting, engineering, secretaries, custodians, etc. Financial finance, insurance, real estate, banks Transportation & information trucking, publishing, public utilities

Public services Provide security and protection for citizens and businesses Public school teachers, police, post office Other gov't jobs Why are public school teachers classified here and not as an education consumer service?
