3 THE ISSUE: Poor harvest, poor rainfall THE CAUSE: Poor land management Deforestation No crop rotation Ignoring indigenous farming knowledge Infertile land

4 The project: A year long intervention Who? The Ants An Environmental NGO The Headman and Elders What? Project using the Arts and agricultural methodologies to improve land management practices

5 Niamina Dankunku? - because we have links with the community Poor harvest? It is a pressing issue – many consequences. There are solutions to the problem. Storytelling? – Illiterate community with oral tradition and rich indigenous knowledge. Why

6 OBJECTIVES OF THE YEAR LONG PROJECT To work with the community to identify the problem and the cause of the problem. To develop strategies, skills and knowledge in the community to address the problem. To support the community in the implementation of new practices.

7 THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS PERFORMANCE To use dramatised storytelling, based on 2 weeks of research in the community, to stimulate a conversation about the problem and its cause When and where?
