4 Women’s Rights Issues: Women in the U.S. were not treated equally. Women could not vote. Women could not hold the same jobs as men sometimes. Women did not and still don’t receive equal pay for the same job.

5 Women’s Rights Activist Movement In the 1830s and 1840s many women began to speak up for equality Some of these activist worked with abolitionist to promote rights for all humans. Elizabeth Cody Stanton organized the first convention for women’s rights.

6 Women’s Rights How it relates to today: Even today women are not equal in the U.S. For every dollar a man makes, women only make $78. There are still many feminists and activists who are working today for equality.

7 Prison and Asylum Reform Main issues: Asylums and prisons were filled to capacity with men, women, and children. Their crimes raged from murder to spitting in the street. These institution struggled with their purposes: to punish or rehabilitate.
