Her Achievements Honorary science, medicine and law degrees and honorary memberships of learned societies throughout the world Nobel Prize for Physics in 1903 Davy Medal of the Royal Society in 1903 Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1911 1921, President Harding of the United States, on behalf of the women of America, presented her with one gram of radium in recognition of her service to science

Her Firsts She was the first to use the term radioactivity She was the first woman in Europe to receive her doctorate of science In 1903, she became the first woman to win a Nobel Prize for Physics She was also the first female lecturer, professor and head of Laboratory at the Sorbonne University in Paris She was the first person ever to receive two Nobel Prizes when she won again in 1911. She was the first mother-Nobel Prize Laureate of daughter-Nobel Prize Laureate. She is the first woman which has been laid to rest under the famous dome of the Pantheon in Paris for her own merits. Fun Facts The Maria Reactor in Poland, which is a research nuclear reactor named after Marie Curie (right) Marie Curie was called Manya During World War I, Marie worked as an "X-ray technician," taught radiological technology, and equipped mobile X-ray vans to assist in the war effort.

Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood. -Marie Curie “You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals. To that end each of us must work for his own improvement, and at the same time share a general responsibility for all humanity, our particular duty being to aid those to whom we think we can be most useful. “ –Marie Curie
