3 DESIGN GOALS Provide maximum flexibility for BAR BAR can change inspection logic and data collected without needing software change on DAD “Universal” Software Single set of software for multiple sets of DAD hardware from different vendors “Future Proof” Design Initial platform was laptop with Windows 7 Already accept tablets with Windows 8 Expect future configurations to include Android mini tablets with Bluetooth or Radio Frequency connection to OBD device Digital Security Platform is open operating system on station selected hardware

4 DESIGN APPROACH Minimal Software on Station Computer 90% on VID, remaining 10% on station device Easily transportable to new configurations Device Software as Web Application 90% of application on VID, remaining 10% on device Device application is an embedded, “locked down” web browser Device application has hooks to DAD hardware Low-Level Commands to DAD Use low-level commands (individual mode-PID calls) to DAD Provides flexibility in control of inspection logic Ensures conformity in vendor application

5 DESIGN APPROACH (cont) RULES ENGINE AND TABLES Rules engine on VID provides flexibility in logic Low-level command sequence defined in tables and rules COLLECT MAXIMUM DATA POSSIBLE Collect all data available whether currently required or not

6 DEVELOPMENT AND TEST AGILE (SCRUM) DEVELOPMENT 24 laps (individual software steps) BAR validation after each lap BAR regression testing after final lap delivery INTEGRATE OIS WITH BAR-97 New BAR-OIS Software integrated into VID and existing BAR management applications New OBD II data integrated into NGET databases BAR-OIS DEVELOPMENT AND TEST BAR-OIS specification provided to DAD vendors Some DAD vendors currently testing in sandbox
