What is Alzheimer’s… A form of dementia: causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Alzheimer’s tends to get worse over time: starts with mild memory loss and worsens to the point of not being able to carry a conversation or react to the environment. Symptoms of Alzheimer’s: Difficulty remembering newly learned things (early stage) Disorientation, mood and behavior change, deepening confusion, unfounded suspicions about family and friends. Serious memory loss, difficulty walking, swallowing and speaking (later stage)

Alzheimer progress: As Alzheimer’s disease progresses, tau pathology spreads from one brain region to another in a consistent pattern Tangles appear first in the entorhinal cortex, Next in the hippocampus, and then in the cerebral cortex. These brain regions are connected to one another via synapses that create communication networks.
