Neighbourhood Policing Teams The main purpose of the Neighbourhood Policing teams is to engage with their community to create a safe and secure neighbourhood with a community confident they have ownership and control, and a sense of pride in their community.

Our Targets A 13% reduction in reported crime A 19% reduction in the number of cases referred to the justice sector A 4% increase in prevention activities By 2014/2015 We cant achieve this alone!

Community patrol and police working together

Benefits New Zealand will be a safer place to live, visit and do business

What we do Prevention First is the operating strategy for New Zealand Police It which puts prevention at the forefront and people at the centre. Prevention First enables us to be better attuned to our communities and control the criminal environment rather than react to it. Prevention First affects and require a commitment from each and every person who works for New Zealand Police.

What we do Understanding and responding to the drivers of crime Fostering a change in mindset that puts prevention at the forefront of policing and victims at the centre Deploying to beat demand

Focusing on victims We have developed an IT solution so we can more easily identify repeat and high-risk victims We complete victim intervention plans particularly for vulnerable victims, We are building stronger relationship with partner agencies and community organisations to ensure the expert services they provide are getting to the right people when they need it most

Deploying to Beat Demand The deployment model will allow us to mobilise staff and other resources faster and in a more informed manner. This will put us in a better place to respond to emerging crime hotspots before it’s too late and follow-up prolific offenders with urgency before they offend again
